We at Smakbyn now also offer professional catering in Ostrobothnia! Our catering is perfect for weddings, BBQs, corporate events, christenings, birthday parties, and other celebrations. All food is prepared by our chef, Oskar Mendelin, who is also known from the TV show Strömsö. The food is made in our catering kitchen located in Helsingby. With many years of experience in the industry and operations in Åland and mainland Finland, we ensure that your event will be memorable, regardless of its size or location.

In the heart of Vaasa lies Gårdshuset, a charming and historic building where food, community, and experiences come together.
Here, we have created an inspiring environment where food, community, and experiences are the focus. Our studio kitchen, designed and built by Puustelli, is perfectly equipped for cooking with both small and large groups.
Cooking classes for all skill levels
With us, you can participate in cooking classes, whether you’re a beginner in the kitchen or looking to refine your skills. We offer courses for:
- Individuals who want to develop their cooking skills and receive practical tips and techniques.
- Companies and groups looking for a creative and flavorful activity for team building or client events.
- Themed courses, where we focus on specific ingredients or cooking techniques.
Together, we will prepare a delicious three-course meal, where you’ll learn the tricks to elevate your cooking to the next level. The evening concludes with us enjoying the meal together in a cozy atmosphere, accompanied by fine drinks and great company.

Catering
We have several menu suggestions but can also customize a menu together with you according to your preferences. We also offer rentals of plates, glasses, cutlery, as well as tablecloths and napkins. If desired, we can provide chefs and waitstaff on site. Additionally, we can assist with planning the program and decorations, as well as offer graphic design support for invitations, seating charts, menu cards, and any other requests you may have.
Our chef: Oskar Mendelin
Oskar Mendelin är en framstående och erfaren kock med nästan 20 års erfarenhet från Stockholms kulinariska scen, där han arbetat på flera stjärnkrogar och haft rollen som souschef på den välkända restaurangen Hantverket. I Österbotten är Oskar ett välbekant namn, kanske främst som tidigare köksmästare på restaurang HEJM, men även som en uppskattad profil från tv-programmet Strömsö. Med sin passion för matlagning och gedigna erfarenhet fortsätter Oskar att inspirera både i köket och på tv.
